Beliefs and Core Values
Everyone believes in something. What do you believe in? Have you ever asked yourself this question? What are your beliefs and what are your core values? It may be that you believe in God and follow His guidance or may be you believe in the self, following your own guidance. Whatever you believe in, this shapes your core values and deep inner motivations and becomes your Life Compass. Your Life Compass is like a real compass, it always tries to point towards your true North, ie) your belief system and core values. If you try to go against your Life Compass, you will feel pressure to get back on track. In a similar way, if you try to move a compass arm away from North, it will always try to spring back to magnetic North. Making decisions based on your true north beliefs and core values will make for a peacful life, but go against it and you may find inner un-ease. For instance, the greatest Christian ethic is to: 'Love your God with All your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength, and the second is this, to love your neighbour as yourself' For the Christian, to forget about following Christ and to stop loving your neighbour, may create an inner urge to get to your compsass direction.
